Chapter Five
Colin
The room around me was dark, but not completely so. Shadows filled every corner and stretched across the walls, ghostly patterns of faded items laced with pitch black. I could see well enough without light, even though most colors disappeared but then I perceived more of them than the average human anyway, so my night vision was still a lot better than theirs.
It must have been just before the break of dawn because the small gap between the blinds wasnât much brighter than the wooden panels. Next to me, Sasha stirred in his sleep. I looked at him, taking in the soft curves of his shoulder and neck, the impossibly smooth skin that gleamed like the finest silk ever spun. Suddenly I longed to touch him and just feel his reassuring firmness. We were alone, which was a rare thing to happen. It took me a moment to remember that Mikey had to get up early. I heard him rummage in the hall, the shuffling noises of his footsteps. Then the front door fell shut. His mum wanted to visit family in Portsmouth and heâd promised to take her but hadnât wanted to sleep at their place after the events of last night.
I stretched, reveling in the pleasurable soreness that reminded me of those events, then I wrapped my arm around Sasha and snuggled up to him. I brought my face to right behind his neck, less than an inch from him. I breathed him in and his warm, sleepy and wonderfully familiar smell went straight to my head. âI love you,â I whispered into his ear, and I meant it with every fiber of my heart. True, my feelings for him were not exactly the same as the ones I had for Mikey, but Iâd come to the conclusion that maybe there were different varieties of love, just like there were different varieties of people. Mikey was my rock, the basis of my life and what I needed to exist. Sasha was the earth on that rock, the grass and the flowers and trees that grew on it.
More than that, he added color and warmth to our lives and he balanced what would have been a lop-sided relationship without himâa relationship that tended to consist mostly of sex.
âMm. Love you too,â Sasha replied in a sleep-husky purr and craned his neck to look at me. The movement brought his lips right in front of mine and his breath caressed my skin. I didnât move, not in the least, for well over a minute. I just savored him, his warm, supple presence and I savored the moment as such, those exciting seconds of anticipation, of knowing what was going to happen and yet having to make the moves for it to become real.
I lowered my head by a fraction of an inch and very gently brushed my lips against his. The silky skin yielded under mine, giving in to the tender pressure as I pried the velvety tissue apart and dipped the tip of my tongue into the sweet, moist cavern.
